And now the wait …

We are 38 weeks pregnant with a baby that weighs in at 2.9kg. Yep, this is the uncomfortable weight that Bridgitte has to put up with. Uncomfortable indeed, but worth it in the end. The pregnancy is going really well. We are seeing the gynae every week now and she is very happy with the progress of the growth of the baby.

Today is Saturday and it is a beautiful day in Cape Town. So I decided to haul out the camera and take some pics of my pregnant wife as well as our dogs.

We spent most of the day doing some maintenance around the house – nesting perhaps? We always believe that when the little things are fixed around the house, it makes for a happy house. Seeing that rising damp or crack or trap door looking like dogs breakfast day in and day out, does get very irritating none the less.

I don’t know if I am going to be doing any more posts onto this blog until the baby is born, but if not, I’d like to let you in on my online strategy that I am going to be executing on the day the baby is born.

On the right-hand side of this blog, you’ll see a Zoopy widget. While at the hospital, I’m going to be taking some pictures and videos with my cellphone which I am going to be uploading directly to the net from the hospital. This is the power of the Internet at its best my friends. All those pictures and videos will be appearing in the Zoopy widget with the latest picture/video first. So if you want to keep up-to-date, be sure to keep your eyes on this blog as well as follow me on Twitter where I hope to post short updates as we progress.

Bridgitte is going to give birth naturally and I really hope that all goes well and we would not need to resort to a C section, which we want to avoid as much as possible. Of course, the baby’s well being is of utmost importance and if a C section is required, then so be it. As long as our son is born without any complications.

Because she’ll be giving birth naturally, we will most probably spend in an excess of a good couple of hours in the delivery room. When I found out that each delivery room has a mini stereo, I got to work immediately and created a playlist of tracks from the soundtrack of our lives as well as some current favourites. Having music playing during a long period of time, sure does help in making time run by faster. I mean, c’mon, you really think I would not think of bringing music along? Duh!!

So that is the plan. Will this plan be executed as I hope it would? We’ll have to wait and see, but I always say, rather have a plan, then no plan at all.

But her bag is packed, my purple gadget bag is packed, the nursery is ready and now the wait sets in as we wait for something to occur – contractions, water breaking, etc?

Watch this space!!
